Abstract

The article discusses the use of various dosage forms of anti-inflammatory periodontal drugs used in patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases. The rapid anti-inflammatory efficacy of toothpaste, gel, aerosol, and rinse aid has been proven. The combination of several active components in one product actively affects all parts of the pathogenesis of the inflammatory process from antimicrobial effects to the elimination of halitosis.

Abstract

A comparative analysis of the method of treatment of meteorological cheilitis with the use of oil-balsamic antiseptics of cheilitis in patients of the main group was conducted. Positive dynamics was obtained after the 4th visit. It has been established that their use leads to a reduction in pain, a decrease in lesion elements (flakes), epithelization of cracks, a reduction in pain, a decrease in complaints of dryness of the red rims of the lips. The complete disappearance of scales and epithelization of cracks was achieved on the 8th visit to the local application of oil-balsamic antiseptic. On the 8th visit, the patients of the main group noted the lack of dryness of the red border of the lips, the disappearance of scales, complete epithelization of cracks. In control patients, a positive result was obtained after 10 visits, the rehabilitation period is mild and in a shorter period, the period of remission within 12 months. Oil-balsam antiseptics have a pronounced effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, facultative aerobes and anaerobes. The data we obtained allow us to introduce this treatment regimen into the clinic of therapeutic dentistry for the treatment of meteorological cheilitis.

Abstract

The method is given that in laboratory conditions allows you to create plastic templates made by 3D-printing. For planning a digital prototype of these patterns, computed tomography, laser surface scan of the dentition, as well as a number of computer programs are used, the use of which in the treatment of tooth loss allows you to accurately determine the implant placement area. This navigation is based on the principle of using one drill. The application of this method in the clinic will significantly improve the quality of implantology treatment, to obtain more predictable and long-term results.

Abstract

The guided tissue regeneration (GTR) is one of the basic ways for alveolar ridge reconstruction in the implantology and periodontology. It has been using for more than 30 years and allows to get stable and predictable outcomes. However, quality and volume obtained tissues depends on a wide range the local, systemic and technological features which have to be taken into account. Only this approach let us achieve predictable and stable outcomes of the therapy. In the article two clinical cases of GTR are depicted in two different applications of the dermal matrix Collost usage as a collagen barrier membrane.

Abstract

Urgency. Replantation of the tooth the expeditious return of an extracted tooth in his hole. Despite the fact that the operation of tooth replantation has been known since the 19th century, to this day in dental practice, this technique is rarely used, although in some cases this type of organ-preserving operations is the only alternative to tooth extraction.

Purpose. To analyze the effectiveness of the operation of tooth replantation carried out by the classical method.

Materials and methods. Replantation of tooth 1.2 was carried out according to the classical method. Evaluation of optical density of bone tissue surrounding the root apex of the replanting tooth 1.2 was carried out with the use of computed tomography in X-ray output 0,04 mSv according to Hounsfield. The efficiency of the graft mobility was determined using the apparatus Periotest M Siemens (Medizintechnik Gulden). The values of the device from –8.0 to +9.9 correspond to the lack of mobility of the tooth (osteoid type of tooth fixation), from +10.0 to +19.9 — the first degree of mobility, from +20.0 to 29.9 — the second degree, from +30.0 and more — the third degree.

Conclusion. 1 year 7 months after the replantation of tooth 1.2 we observed a complete restoration of its functions and the absence of pathological mobility.

Abstract

This is a case study of patient with bisphosphonate associated osteonecrosis of the mandible after an extraction of teeth 4.6 and 4.7 complicated with pathological fracture while receiving intravenous bisphosphonates is discussed. The patients presenting signs and symptoms are reviewed. Bisphosphonates induced osteonecrosis definition and are reviewed management.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the morphological differences of the minor salivary glands in patients with secondary Sjögren's syndrome associated with systemic scleroderma (Scl-SS). Total of 40 patients were grouped according to the American–European Consensus Group criteria. Information about the duration of the disease was taken from the patients records. Sections of the minor salivary gland biopsy were reevaluated, and the lymphocyte focus score (FS), plasma cell focus, and fibrosis rates were all evaluated. The groups were formed according to the duration of the disease: less than and over 5 years.

Results. Scl-SS leads to changes in both in the large salivary glands and in the MSG, manifested in the form of mucoid swelling, fibrinoid changes, hyalinosis and sclerosis. In patients with Scl-SS the progression of the process leads to the destruction of the duct wall and to the focal and diffuse lymphoid infiltration.

Abstract

The article discusses the effectiveness of the use of the adhesive agent Aftofiks in the complex treatment of diseases of the oral mucosa. The positive effect of Aftofix adhesive on the timing of epithelization of wound surfaces of the oral mucosa, pain reduction, ease of application of the drug and its safety have been studied.

Abstract

The structural characteristics of the morphometric characteristics of the bones of the temporomandibular joint were studied on 103 passported sculls of adults, and the patterns of individual typological variability determining the type of its structure were also determined. According to the results of the study, the main dimensional characteristics of the mandibular fossa, articular tubercle and head of the lower jaw were established. Depending on the ratios of the selected parameters, three forms of the head of the lower jaw, seven forms of the mandibular fossa and seven forms of the articular tubercles are distinguished. Of the presented forms, the most common are the medium-wide head of the lower jaw, the medium-deep medium-wide mandibular fossa and the medium-high medium-wide articular tubercle. The results of the study can be claimed by dentist’s orthopedists and orthodontists when planning the treatment of patients with dentoalveolar anomalies and deformities, as well as patients with full adentia.

Abstract

Detection of persons suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was carried out among patients who received scheduled and urgent surgical dental care on an outpatient dental appointment. At the first stage, a questionnaire was conducted for patients with dentition defects that needed orthopedic treatment, and patients who planned surgical manipulations with subsequent planned prosthetics, including those based on intraosseous implants. Patients with previously verified COPD, clinical signs of the disease (respiratory symptoms) and a high probability of its presence were sent to the physician-therapist for targeted standardized screening and diagnosis clarification. 978 patients were questioned, 256 patients were identified, subject to targeted standardized screening. COPD was verified in 95 patients (n = 95), which was 9,7 % of the total number of questionnaires (n = 978) and 37 % of the number of patients who underwent targeted screening (n = 256).

Abstract

Dental incidence of caries has a significant impact on human health and currently affects the bulk of the world's population, despite numerous attempts to reduce it. One of the groups at risk of developing this disease is young people (students) who experience anxiety throughout the entire learning process.

Abstract

The high prevalence of structural and functional lesions of the temporomandibular joints in adults, reaching 76 %, as well as the complexity of diagnosis and treatment of musculo-articular dysfunctions, determine the relevance of further research in this section of modern dentistry. Defects of the dentition in combination with distal occlusion are accompanied by structural and functional changes in the temporomandibular joint. The object of the study was 180 patients with dentition defects in combination with distal occlusion. As a result of the application of clinical and laboratory research methods, three variants of the temporomandibular joint were identified, the clinical and radiological features of the pathology studied were determined, and an algorithm for orthodontic and orthopedic treatment of this pathology was proposed depending on the selected temporomandibular joint.
