Damage to peripheral nervous system in diabetes mellitus
Abstract
The defeat of the peripheral nervous system is one of the most frequent complications of diabetes. The most severe form is vegetative diabetic polyneuropathy (VDPN), associated with the risk of persistent disability and the onset of death, a significant reduction in the quality of life of patients. The possibilities of diagnosing VDPN in clinical practice are considered. Modern approaches to the treatment of patients with VDPN, including drugs that normalize the metabolism in the nervous tissue, as well as eliminating the main symptoms of the disease are analyzed.
