Modern aspects of treatment offoot pathology in athletes

Abstract

The musculoskeletal system of the athlete is exposed to daily overloads and high risk of traumatization, the development of so-called «enthesopathies», one of which is plantar fasciitis. Modern aspects of sports rehabilitation involve the use of high-performance and fast-acting methods, preferably with a prolonged effect, as well as the possibility of their use for preventive purposes. One of these methods, well-established in orthopedic practice, is extracorporeal shock wave therap. Its effectiveness has been proven by a huge number of foreign randomized studies, which allows it to be included in the standards of treatment of foot pathologies, including plantar fasciitis and sports rehabilitation protocols.
