Abstract

Trauma, facial skeleton injuries, and the removal of neoplasms can lead to defects in the cranio-maxillofacial region and uncontrolled tissue constriction. This greatly limits the possibilities for reconstructive surgery and complicates further treatment. Standard and personalized titanium-based and titanium alloy-based metal structures are commonly used. Biodegradable materials for internal fixation are rarely used due to unpredictable resorption times and reduced strength characteristics. The purpose of a temporary/permanent individual polymer maxillofacial implant is to replace (eliminate) defects in the facial skeleton and dentition after trauma, inflammatory processes, congenital pathology, surgical treatment of craniofacial cancer, tooth loss, and extreme jaw atrophy. This article presents a protocol and results of using temporary individual polymer implants (VIPI) on.
