Исторически мужчины, практикующие секс с мужчинами (МСМ), являются стигматизированным сообществом в России, что негативно сказывается на профилактике ВИЧ-инфекции в этой уязвимой группе и осложняет исследование генетических вариантов ВИЧ‑1.</p><p>Целью нашего исследования была характеристика вариантов ВИЧ‑1, в образцах, полученных в 2004–2025 гг. от МСМ, проживающих в России.</p></sec><sec><title>Материалы и методы</title><p>Материалы и методы. Были проанализированы нуклеотидные последовательности фрагмента гена pol ВИЧ‑1 (2253–3369 н.п.) из баз данных RuHIV и GenBank от 562 ВИЧ-инфицированных МСМ, проживающих в РФ. Было проведено генотипирование, филогенетический и кластерный анализ и расчет p-дистанции среди наиболее часто встречаемых генетических вариантов ВИЧ‑1.</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты</title><p>Результаты. К суб-субтипу A6 относились 44,84% образцов, к субтипу B – 35,94% образцов, причем доля ВИЧ‑1 суб-субтипа A6 статистически достоверно росла в период 2004–2025 гг. Был выявлен рост p-дистанции среди вирусов суб-субтипа A6 (с 0,044 до 0,054) и субтипа B (с 0,05 до 0,072) в 2004–2025 гг. Получены доказательства как размытия границ уязвимой группы МСМ, так и продолжающейся циркуляции субтипа B среди МСМ в России. Показано влияние миграции на увеличение числа случаев инфицирования редкими и рекомбинантными формами ВИЧ‑1 среди МСМ в России в последние годы.</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение. Показана важность исследования уязвимой группы МСМ для эпидемиологического надзора за ВИЧ-инфекцией в России. Выявлен вклад миграции в генетическое разнообразие вариантов ВИЧ‑1, циркулирующих в стране.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><sec><title>Introduction</title><p>Introduction. Historically, men who have sex with men (MSM) are a stigmatized community in Russia, and this fact has negatively affects HIV prevention in this vulnerable group and complicates the study of HIV‑1 genetic variants.</p><p>The aim of our study was to characterize HIV‑1 variants in samples obtained in 2004–2025 from MSM living in Russia.</p></sec><sec><title>Materials and methods</title><p>Materials and methods. Nucleotide sequences of the HIV‑1 pol gene fragment (2253–3369 bp) from the RuHIV and GenBank databases from 562 HIV-infected MSM living in the Russian Federation were analyzed. Genotyping, phylogenetic and cluster analysis were performed and p-distance calculation among the most common HIV‑1 genetic variants was carried out.</p></sec><sec><title>Results</title><p>Results. Sub-subtype A6 comprised 44.84% of samples, subtype B – 35.94% of samples, and the proportion of HIV‑1 sub-subtype A6 statistically significantly increased in the period 2004–2025. An increase of the p-distance was found among sub-subtype A6 (from 0.044 to 0.054) and subtype B (from 0.05 to 0.072) viruses in 2004–2025. We obtained the evidence of both the blurring of the boundaries of the vulnerable MSM group and the ongoing circulation of subtype B among MSM in Russia. The influence of migration on the increase in the number of cases of rare and recombinant forms of HIV‑1 infections among MSM in Russia in recent years was shown.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion</title><p>Conclusion. The importance of studying the vulnerable MSM group for epidemiological surveillance of HIV infection in Russia is shown.
