<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) fragments found in blood represent a critical source of information about the tumour. However, the analysis of ctDNA is challenging due to the overwhelming presence of DNA from non-malignant cells and requires the development of highly sensitive laboratory techniques.
